Queen Elizabeth, Diamond Jubilee

A tribute to a long serving woman…

Born in 1926 Elizabeth’s undying loyalty to her people and her duty has been an inspiration to me as I’m sure it has been to many others too, not because I am a royalist as such but because I am a woman, I can’t imagine being in the same job “whatever the perks” for 60 years and look as though I still enjoyed it, so here’s to you Ma-am!

Music 1920 – 2010

  • It Don’t Mean A Thing (If It Ain’t Got That Swing) – Duke Ellington (Ivie Anderson) / Mills Brothers
  • One O’Clock Jump – Count Basie / Benny Goodman / Harry James

I chose just two verses that depict who she is and who we are or should be…

1745 – 2012

Not in this land alone,
But be God’s mercies known,
From shore to shore!
Lord make the nations see,
That men should brothers be,
And form one family,
The wide world over.

From every latent foe,
From the assassins blow,
God save the Queen!
O’er her thine arm extend,
For Britain’s sake defend,
Our mother, prince, and friend,
God save the Queen!
